Lynn Gatherer is Sudell Ward's Labour Councillor.
A Maghull mum has been elected onto Sefton Council.
Lynn Gatherer was elected with a majority of 1,304 (59% of the total vote) to represent Sudell Ward as a Labour Councillor.
The Labour Party activist and campaigner has been an active member of the community leading the Maghull Labour Action Team.
Mother of two Lynn, whose daughters both attend high school in Maghull, is leading member of the Maghull Labour Action Team.
Lynn said: "I am absolutely delighted to have been elected as a Labour Counillor for Sudell - a ward where I live.
"Not only do I live in Maghull, I'm bringing up my family here. I know only too well the issues and concerns the residents have here and together with our Sudell Ward Labour Councillor Patrick McKinley and the rest of the Labour Action Team, I am working hard on those issues.
"This is a very difficult time for many people in Maghull, particularly those who work in the public sector who are facing job cuts and pay freezes, as well as the rest of the community who are facing service cuts because of this Tory-Lib Dem government's slash and burn policies.
"The Tory-Lib Dem government's relaxation of the planning laws means that they are kicking open the door to big business developers to come in and build on our valuable greenspace and greenbelt land in Maghull. This is a direct attack on our community.
"This is something which I and my Labour colleagues have fought hard against and we will continue to fight to protect our valuable community greenspaces."
Lynn said her main priority is to make life better for people in Maghull.
She said: "We have a Conservative-Liberal Democrat government which is intent on cutting vital services here in East Sefton. In turn they are putting many local people here out of work. Their failed economic policy has seen youth unemployment double from January to September.
"Our young people are being betrayed by this Tory-Lib Dem government which is making cuts which hit young people hard. Education Maintenance Allowance has been axed. University tuition fees have trebled and opportunities for post-16 education or training have been eroded.
“Life chances are simply being taken away and nothing is being put in to replace them.
"These are attacks directly on young people and ordinary families here in Maghull. As the cuts to the Winter Fuel Allowance and on pensions are an attack on older people in our community.
"Like so many of this Tory-Lib Dem government's slash and burn policies, it is ordinary people right here in Maghull who are feeling the brunt of the cuts.
“Ordinary families like yours and mine who are feeling the pain of a Conservative-Liberal Democrat government which is failing.
"I will continue to work with our MP Bill Esterson, Cllr Patrick McKinley and our local Labour Action Teams to ensure that the people of Maghull get the representation on Sefton Council that they deserve."
