Sefton Central MP supports local microbrewery

Bill Esterson supports local microbrewery in Maghull

Bill Esterson, Sefton Central's Labour Member of Parliament, visited new local brewer 'Neptune' in Maghull.

Labour MP Bill Esterson met with Leslie O'Grady, co-owner of Neptune Brewery, at the company's site in Maghull Industrial Estate on Friday 12th February. The brewery opened in July last year and has already been making waves, with their Abyss Oatmeal Stout voted Beer of the Festival last October in Southport and winning second place at the Liverpool CAMRA Beer Festival held last weekend.

Leslie O'Grady said "We started homebrewing in 2013, brewing only for family, friends and some local brewers. With the good feedback we received we took the plunge and started the business in 2015. Despite our small brewing kit we are growing well, with six beers brewed on a regular basis and the occasional special, the most recent special being for Global Scouse Day in late February. We hope with continued local support we will be able to scale up in the forthcoming months and are very excited about our future."

Bill Esterson MP said "As Shadow Small Business Minister I am delighted when such entrepreneurial skill and hard work is shown in my constituency. Leslie and his partner have a good business plan, and the beer Leslie produces is genuinely very tasty - as proven by his awards and growing success. I wish him all the luck with his expanding future plans, and look forward to sampling more of his beer in the future."
