Sefton Central Labour Party chairman’s praise for Lydiate’s St Thomas’ Primary as they are named ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted

Sefton Central Labour Party chairman and St Thomas' governor Andy Wilson said this week that the Lydiate primary's 'outstanding' Ofsted report was testament to the excellent staff, pupils and parents at the school.

The Kenyons Lane school received top marks in a report from the government inspectors.

Headteacher Ann Lock said she was delighted the school had received the glowing report.

Mrs Lock said: "Ofsted inspected St Thomas' and all areas were categorised as outstanding.

"We have been building on our successes and this year we have seen our children's progress and attainment improve year on year. In fact, we have had the best results we have ever had this year.

"That is down to a very strong and committed staff team and every teacher working on an individual level with every pupil so that all the pupils can make the progress they need.

"It is an outstanding staff team that is led by a very strong leadership team and we are supported by our excellent governors, chaired by Rev Paul Robinson, and by our parents and pupils.

"People comment when they visit St Thomas' that it is a happy school, that includes all of the pupils and all of the staff who genuinely love working at this school.

"Together with the school's strong Christian values, these are all the reasons we are outstanding."

St Thomas' governor and parent, Andy Wilson, congratulated Mrs Lock and the whole team.

Andy said: "I work in education and I can see for myself just how outstanding St Thomas' is. So much so that I send my son here.

"Every aspect of this school is outstanding, you just have to visit to see that. Ofsted's report tells us what we all already know, but it is a fitting reward for all of the hardwork that Mrs Lock and her brilliant team put in here.

"I congratulate them all, including all of the pupils and parents for making St Thomas' what it is - an outstanding school that I'm proud to support and send my son to."
