Labour MP Bill Esterson said he was hopeful that the success of a scheme to give householders in Sefton Central the opportunity to benefit from free boiler checks, repairs or even boiler replacements will ensure that more people will be warmer this winter.
One thousands 'better boilers' are on their way to the area following the launch of Energy Alliance's Better Boiler Box scheme in May.
Bill Esterson, who gave his backing to the scheme at the launch in May, said the scheme was a great way of helping people become more energy efficient.
Bill said: "I see many constituents struggling to meet their fuel bills and I welcome any initiative which helps households become more energy efficient and save money.
"Household energy prices are soaring and any initiative that provides advice on how to lower their bills has to be welcomed.
"This advice, together with replacement more efficient boilers for those who needed them should make a real difference to those people who benefited.
"This has been an excellent initiative that has which I hope to see repeated again in the future."
Energy Alliance marketing director Simon Holmes said the response to the scheme was "overwhelming" with over 1,000 households signing up for the free boiler health check and upgrade.
While the target for this phase of the scheme has now been reached, Simon said future phases are planned and will be publicised when funds become available.
Simon said: "More energy efficient boilers have a positive impact on people’s fuel bills as well as being better for the environment, and we hope to be in a position to fund more boilers for the people of Merseyside soon."
