Sefton Central Labour MP Bill Esterson is urging people throughout his constituency to have their say on the plans to extend the Burbo Bank Offshore Wind Farm.

The consultation period was launched yesterday (May 4) and will continue until mid-December before feedback events are held next year.

Dong Energy who are conducting the consultation process say the extended wind farm could generate energy for 170,000 homes.

Bill Esterson said he hoped people would take advantage of the chance to have their say on the plans.

Bill said: "I hope that people will take part in the consultation. A major extension of the wind farm would have an impact on people in Crosby, Hightown and Formby and it is vital that the views of people here are taken into account before any decisions are taken.

"I hope that the authorities will listen to the views of local people both those who support the plans and those who are against.

"We need to increase the level of renewable energy generated in this country. The question is where wind farms should be and I hope that local people will be listened to before that question is answered."
