Sefton Central Labour MP Bill Esterson said he was extremely honoured to be asked to take the salute Formby Scouts' St George's Day Parade on Sunday.
The MP joined Formby St Luke's Group Chairman Mike Constantine, District Scout Chairman Mark Bennett and District Commissioner Mark Sheil at the special event which saw Scouts from throughout Formby parade through the Village.
Following the parade, the Scouts congregated at Holy Trinity Church where they were formerly inspected by Bill Esterson.
Hundreds of Scouts took part in the parade which also included Marshside Brass Band.
Bill said he was "deeply honoured" to have been asked to take part.
Bill said: "I was delighted to accept the invitation to take part in this year's parade and I would like to thank not just the parade organisers, but also all of the young people and volunteers who took part.
"The Scouting movement is very popular in Formby with more than 400 people actively involved. It has a long and proud tradition in the town and my involvement today means that I have shared in that tradition."
Bill praised the Scouts for being actively involved in the local community.
Bill said: "Not only do the fantastic Scout group in Formby give the young people in this town opportunities to take part in a wide variety of activities, but I also know that they do a lot of good work in the community too.
"The St George's Day Parade gives us all the chance to celebrate that.
"Well done to everyone invovled and I look forward to next year."
