Sefton Central Labour MP Bill Esterson special guest at Sefton C
Sefton Central Labour MP Bill Esterson gave an insight into the workings of Westminster at an event to give advice on how to create change for the better in local communities.
Bill was the special guest at the two-day How to Engage With and Influence Parliament training programme which was held in Formby.
The aim of the event, which was organised by Waterloo-based charity Sefton CVS, was to equip local residents with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to get their message across to Members of Parliament.
Topics covered by the programme included an overview of parliament and government and advice on how to engage effectively at both local and national level.
Delegates also received tips on campaign planning and using social media to highlight issues and concerns.
Bill Esterson took part in a question and answer session on how parliament works and how to engage with MPs effectively.
Bill said: "It was a pleasure to attend the session, meet the delegates and answer their questions.
"There is a common misconception that people aren't interested in politics, but events of this kind just go to show how wrong the misconception is.
"People are interested and they want to get engaged and involved in the political process. I find that as I go out and speak to people on the doorstep in Formby, Crosby and Maghull.
"I'd like to thank Sefton CVS for organising the event and inviting me along and I'd like to thank the delegates for their excellent questions."
