Sitting MP Bill Esterson has received "overwhelming support" by Sefton Central Labour members to be the party's candidate for the 2015 election.
Party members throughout the constituency gave their backing to Bill as they formally reselected him to stand at the next General Election.
Sefton Central Labour Party chairman Andy Wilson said the Constituency Labour Party members have given Bill Esterson their overwhelming endorsement.
Andy said: "Bill Esterson has been an outstanding MP for us here in Sefton Central and the Labour members in this constituency have recognised that by giving him their overwhelming support.
"Members have recognised that he has fought hard for the interests of constituents. He spends a lot of time listening to the views of constituents in all parts of Sefton Central and takes that to parliament where he then campaigns for those views.
"He has fought against this Tory-Lib Dem Government's cuts which have seen the the most vulnerable the hardest.
"Bill goes out of his way to make sure that not only is he campaigning in Parliament in the interests of his constituents, back in the constituency he ensures that the people who need help get it.
"He has proven himself to be an outstanding MP and I am delighted that he will be fighting the next election for Labour here in Sefton Central."
Bill said he was honoured to have been reselected by such an overwhelming number of members.
Bill said: "I am delighted to have been selected with the level of support I received. I have received many fantastic comments from members from Formby and Crosby to East Sefton.
"I take my responsibilities as a constituency MP very seriously.
"I work seven days a week to make sure all people, of all parties, get the representation they deserve and support when they need it
"It is a job that I love, for a community that I love.
"I am delighted to be doing this job and I am honoured to have been reselected by the Labour members of Sefton Central."
