Sefton Central Labour MP Bill Esterson found out for himself that you can bank on getting your hands on a tasty coffee and home-baked cake at Barclays' annual Macmillan Coffee Morning in Formby.

Bill joined customers and staff for a coffee and a piece of cake at the Chapel Lane branch.

Branch manager Gareth Jones said: "It's been a fantastic coffee morning. Our customers have been brilliant. Not only have they joined us to enjoy a coffee, but many have even donated home-baked cakes.

"Macmillan Cancer Care is a great cause for us to support. That's why we have made the Macmillan Coffee Morning an annual event and why our customers are so keen to support us."

Bill said he was delighted to join the customers at Barclays Formby over a coffee.

Bill said: "Macmillan is a charity which is very close to many people's hearts. Barclays in Formby does a great job supporting them.

"Gareth and his team have done a fantastic job organising the coffee morning. Their customers have shown their generosity. I'd like to thank them all for continuing to support Macmillan Cancer Care and for enabling the charity to continue the fantastic work in communities like ours here in Formby.

"Well done to them all."
