Sefton Central Labour MP Bill Esterson has this week launched his competition for school children to design this year's Christmas cards from the local MP.
The MP has written to all of the constituency's schools inviting pupils to send in their designs.
The winner will get to see their design turned into Christmas cards and will have the chance to meet their MP.
This is the third year that Bill has held the competition. Bill said he was inspired to launch the competition after seeing some of the artwork at local schools during his visits.
Bill said: "I have visited most of our schools in Sefton Central over the past three years. Each time I go in to a school, I am astounded by the outstanding pieces of artwork which the pupils have created. It just goes to show that we have some very talented pupils in our schools here in Sefton.
"This has been proven by the quality of the entries I have had each year to the Christmascompetition.
"As Christmas is now not far off, this is the time for our talented young artists to show off their talents and enter the competition to design my Christmas cards.
"I have invited young artists in Sefton Central to pick up their coloured pens and pencils and get designing.
"I’ll be choosing the best designs and they will go on this year's Christmas cards which will be sent from me as the MP for the area to people throughout Sefton Central as well as to many leading Members of Parliament in Westminster."
The MP asked the young artists to design a card which illustrates what Christmas means to them.
Bill said: "We all have images in our heads about what Christmas means to us. It could be snowmen, Father Christmas, the Three Wise Men or a Christmas tree with all the presents beneath.
"Just put your ideas on paper and hand them into your teacher or send your entries to my office.
"It will then be the judging panel's difficult task to go through the entries and pick out a winner.
"So get designing and best of luck. I can't wait to see all of the designs."
Entries can be passed on to local schools or sent directly to Bill Esterson MP at: 29 Liverpool Road North, L31 2HB.
Deadline for entries is Friday, November 1.
