A Maghull father of two joined the illustrious Maghull chain gang this week when he was made the town's Mayor.
Labour's Cllr Steve Kermode received the chains of office from outgoing Mayor of Maghull Cllr Sandra Williams at last week's full council meeting.
Cllr Williams said her year as Mayor had been a "privilege".
Cllr Williams said: "It has been an honour to serve as Mayor and to also work alongside Cllr Rita Knight who was by my side as Mayor's consort at each event I was lucky enough to attend.
"Throughout the year, I met some fantastic people and had the privilege of representing the town.
"I hand across the chains of office to Cllr Steve Kermode who will do a fantastic job on our behalf.
"But before I do, I would like to thank everyone who has made the past year a memorable one for Cllr Knight and I."
Cllr Steve Kermode and his wife Cllr Gwen Kermode will now take on the responsibilities of Mayor and Mayoress of Maghull.
Mayor Cllr Steve Kermode said: "Gwen and I are delighted to take on the role of Mayor and Mayoress of Maghull to continue the great work of Cllr Sandra Williams and Cllr Rita Knight.
"One of my priorities as the Mayor of Maghull is to promote this town and the fantastic people who live here.
"Maghull is a fantastic place to live and work. My colleagues on Maghull Town Council are doing all they can to make sure that we build on what we have already got and make it even greater.
"I'd like to thank Cllr Williams and Cllr Knight for their excellent service through the year."
