Mayor of Maghull, Labour's Cllr Steve Kermode, presented awards to three young men who have certainly made a splash.
Cllr Kermode presented Lifesaving Awards to Deyes High pupil Samuel Chung, Sefton Sixth Form College student Richard Woods and Winstanley College student Nathan O'Connor.
The trio completed the gruelling Life Saving course under the watchful eye of veteran swimming instructor Eric Deakin.
Eric runs the Sefton Lifesaving and Swimming Club.
Cllr Kermode praised the three award winners.
Cllr Kermode said: "Getting these Lifesaving Awards takes a lot of commitment and dedication. Samuel, Richard and Nathan all proved they have the determination to stick with the course to the end and these awards are testament to their hardwork.
"I'd like to congratulate all three of them - it's certainly not an easy thing to do."
The Mayor also praised Eric Deakin for running the club.
Cllr Kermode said: "Eric Deakin has been running swi8mming and lifesaving groups for years.
"There must be thousands of young people who have have been taught how to save lives by Eric over the years.
"I also know that he has raised thousands for various charities over the year.
"He is an inspiration, as he has proven time and again with young people who have gained swimming and lifesaving awards under his tutelage.
"Samuel, Richard and Nathan are the latest in a long line of people who now have the confidence and skills to save lives thanks to Eric's help."
