Labour leader of Maghull Town Council Cllr Caroline Esterson launched a public consultation this week to devise a long-term action plan for the town.
In the first stage of the consultation, Cllr Esterson spoke to community group leaders at a meeting at Maghull Town Hall on Tuesday.
The Maghull Town Council Labour Group leader is working on devising a town plan which will shape the town council's priorities.
Cllr Esterson said: "The Labour Group and I are determined to ensure that not only does Maghull Town Council have a forward-thinking strategic plan, but that that plan is drawn up in conjunction with members of this community.
"That was why I was keen to bring the leaders of the various community groups in Maghull in on the consultation which will feed in to the development of a strategic plan for the town.
"A strategic plan is crucial to ensure that the council is moving forward and working in the interests of Maghull and its residents.
"It is at the heart of what we want from Maghull Town Council - to improve our community for the people who live, work and visit."
Cllr Esterson said she hoped people throughout Maghull will contribute to the consultation.
Cllr Esterson said: "The town plan will be the strategic document which will act as a framework for all the ideas which we are generating. This document will help us prioritise the implementation of the ideas generated by the council and by the community which we serve.
"Last Tuesday night's meeting with the various community groups. was the first taster in a series of meetings which we will be holding as part of the consultation.
"We will be announcing various other public meetings which people will be invited to come along and contribute to, but in the meantime, if people would like to submit ideas, please let us know by email email@example.com"
