Maghull Labour Action Team is working with the police to clamp down on dangerous illegal motorcyclists in the town.
The off-road motorbikes have been spotted speeding on roads in the town, regularly in and around Moorhey Road.
Latest reports from concerned residents reveal that reckless riders have even been driving over the footbridge on Bridge Road to Rutherford Road.
Residents have raised concerns with Maghull Labour Councillors Lynn Gatherer and Patrick McKinley.
Cllr Gatherer said: "Maghull Labour Action Team has had a number of calls from people complaining about dangerous motorcyclists endangering people's lives by driving on the pavements and at speed.
"We've even had reports that they are driving over the bridge.
"That bridge is regularly used and these motorcyclists really are risking seriously hurting somebody, or even possibly killing them. There's small children who go over that bridge. There's even more young people using the bridge now we are in the school summer holiday period.
"This is a problem which we need to clamp down hard on."
Cllr Gatherer and Cllr McKinley have raised their concerns with the police.
Cllr McKinley said: "These motorcyclists aren't only risking other people's lives. Very often they are driving along without a proper MOT, or even wearing a crash helmet. They are risking their own lives.
"We have asked the police focus some attention on this problem. We want the police to come down hard on anyone found driving off-road motorcycles recklessly on our roads.
"As well as facing a driving ban, I'd like to see the vehicles seized and crushed.
"This is dangerous and we want to see the problem resolved before someone is killed."
