Maghull Labour Action Team is working with Sefton Council to come up with a solution to the parking problem on Eastway.
While some residents have raised concerns about cars parking on grass verges on Eastway, others say they are forced to park on the verges because they don't want to make an already busy road more congested.
Maghull Labour Action Team leader Lynn Gatherer has now arranged for Sefton Council to hold a site visit to assess the problem.
Lynn said: "There have been concerns raised with me about the parking issues on Eastway.
"Maghull Labour Action Team and I visited the site and fully understand the concerns of people in the road that the grass verges have become an eyesore as they are churned up by cars. But I also appreciate that people are parking on the verges because they feel they have no alternative place to leave their cars.
"We would like to see a solution to the parking problems that satisfies everyone."
Following the council site visit, there will be a public consultation with residents to try to find a suitable solution.
Lynn said: "We have been advised that council officers will inspect this site and that there will then be a public consultation to establish how the residents would like the issue to be addressed.
"I'd like to thank Sefton Council for their quick response to the concerns raised, but we do need to bear in mind that the government has forced the council to make millions of pounds worth of cuts. This has a serious impact on the services it can provide and support it can offer to residents.
"However, we will continue to push for a solution to this problem."
