Maghull Labour Action Team is calling on members of the public to be extra vigilant for vandals after a phone box was damaged during an attack on Croftfield.
Vandals destroyed the receiver on the phone.
The Maghull Labour Action Team reported the damage to BT for immediate attention.
Maghull Labour Action Team leader Patrick McKinley is concerned that there could be an increase in vandalism as the number of police in Merseyside is slashed by the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats.
Patrick said: "We see spates of vandalism on occasion throughout our communities, but we all need to be vigilant and report it immediately. If we don't, vandalism and graffiti breeds vandalism.
"By working together and ensuring that vandalism is reported and dealt with, then we can ensure that it remains a priority.
"The axing of 800 police officers in Merseyside will mean that the there are less police available to deal with issues like graffiti and vandalism.
"We need to ensure that the crime within our communities don't suffer because of it.
"I'd urge anyone who wants to report vandalism to call the Maghull Labour Action Team on 0151 531 1193."
Maghull MP Bill Esterson said he wanted t ensure that the damaged phonebox was repaired as a matter of urgency.
Bill said: "Although lots of people have mobile phone now, there are still many people who don't and they rely on having access to a public phone.
"The Maghull Labour Action Team have reported the damage to BT and I am confident that they will repair the damage as soon as they can."
