Mayor of Maghull, Labour's Cllr Joan Deegan, got this year's Fireworks Display underway at Whinneybrook Playing Field on Bonfire Night.
Thousands braved the cold to come along to enjoy the display.
Maghull Town Council Labour leader, Cllr Patrick McKinley, said Maghull now has a reputation for putting on one of the best fireworks displays in Sefton.
Cllr McKinley said: "We had a fantastic turnout to watch what was a fantastic fireworks display.
"Thousands of people came along to join the fun. In fact we had so many people come along, we delayed the start of the display for 20 minutes so that we could get as many people as possible in.
"Although we had a brief shower, the weather was kind to us on the whole.
"The display itself was fantastic, so much so, that at the end people were thanking us for holding it. You can't ask for more than that."
Cllr McKinley also thanked all of the volunteers for helping out on the night.
Cllr McKinley said: "With this number of people descending on one place, you wouldn't be able to hold a public event of this scale if you didn't have enough stewards.
"So I would personally like to thank everyone who volunteered on the night, including all of the Maghull Town Councillors who turned up to help, my Sefton ward colleague Cllr Lynn Gatherer, Rod Deegan, Josh Burns, Hannah Smith and Dave Hughes who aren't even Maghull Town Councillors.
"A lot of organising goes in to ensure the fireworks display goes ahead. I'd also like to thank the team from the town hall, the Maghull Town Council staff and security team, who put in a lot of work for us and who did a brilliant job helping to keep everyone safe on the night.
"Year in and year out, this event brings the community together and this year has been no exception. A great community event and another fantastically enjoyable night."
