Labour-run Maghull Town Council to launch survey to find out vie

Labour-run Maghull Town Council is preparing to launch a survey to find out what the people of Maghull think about Sefton's Local Plan before submitting a formal response to the current consultation.

Maghull Town Council's Labour leader, Cllr Patrick McKinley is working with Labour colleagues on the council to draw up the survey which will be ready for council approval by next week.

The council leader said he fully expects the survey to get the full backing of all councillors from all parties on Maghull Town Council.

Cllr McKinley said: "It is crucial that Maghull Town Council submits a formal submission to the consultation on Sefton's Local Plan. But before we can do that, we need to know what the views of the community we represent are.

"That's why we are drawing up the survey to ask every household in Maghull what they think about the Local Plan which sets out the future development of the town for 15 years.

"The submissions we receive will be fed into Maghull Town Council's deliberations and form part of the overall submission we make to the consultation."

Cllr McKinley said he hoped that as many people as possible in Maghull takes time to complete the survey.

Cllr McKinley said: "Many people have now seen the details of the Local Plan. We know for instance that under Sefton's Local Plan, it is proposed that the farmer's field to the east of Maghull would be released to developers to build 1,588 homes over the 15 year period.

"We know that there are other parcels of land that are earmarked for development.

"Maghull Town Council wants to ensure that we are reflecting the views of the community. We want to represent what you think, so I want as many people as possible to give us their views via the survey and also fill in Sefton's consultation.

"The Local Plan means big changes for Maghull. These are big changes that will change the face of Maghull over the next 15 years. The people of this community must be given a say in how their town evolves and that is just what Maghull Town Council will make sure happens."

Maghull Town Councillors will be canvassing people's views through July, August and September before making a formal submission to the Sefton consultation. Copies of the survey will also be available at the town hall and at Meadows Leisure Centre. And you can also fill in the survey online at
