Labour-run Maghull Town Council is encouraging people in the town to get physical this summer with the installation of a brand new outdoor gym.
The new pieces of keep-fit equipment have been installed at KGV park
The former Sefton PCT Health Inequalities Fund paid for the new gym.
Four parks in Maghull are benefiting from the outdoor gyms after the Labour Councillors gave the greenlight to the project.
Maghull Labour Councillor Caroline Esterson worked on the project to get the gyms installed in the town.
Cllr Esterson said: "My Labour colleagues on Maghull Town Council and I are all really pleased with the new outdoor gym equipment.
"The public feedback from other areas where this equipment has been installed have been so positive that we thought that it was a good opportunity for Maghull to get outdoor gyms equipment installed here.
"I go the gym myself, so I know personally about the health benefits of regular exercise. Our new outdoor gym equipment will give everyone the chance to keep fit while enjoying the fresh air. Ideal for summer."
Fellow Labour Councillor on Maghull Town Council, Maurice Byrne, also attends a gym, but he said he would definitely be adding the outdoor gym to his keep fit regime.
Cllr Byrne said: "I'm really impressed by this equipment. It's easy to use, so even if you've never been to a gym before you can take to the equipment easily. And just in case, there's an information board that tells you all about them.
"There really is no excuse now. We have this great keep fit equipment right on our doorstep. It's free. Easy to use. Young and old can have a go. It's suitable for all ages.
"I'm hopeful that the outdoor gyms will help keep older residents active, while also helping to tackle the growing problem of childhood obesity and health inequality.
"It's about getting people away from in front of their TVs or away from their computer games. This equipment is a good way of doing that.
"I will definitely be adding the gym to my keep fit regime."
