Sefton Central Labour MP Bill Esterson is urging everyone in Formby to attend a public exhibition of plans which could see hundreds of houses built on greenbelt land in the town.

David Wilson Homes and Barratt Homes are holding the exhibition at the Gild Hall on Church Road, in Formby on Thursday (August 9) from 2pm-7pm. The event is designed to give residents the chance to have their say about the scheme.

The developers have earmarked the farm fields to the south east of the town, off Liverpool Road, for building.

The site itself is is designated greenbelt land.

Bill Esterson said he would be attending the exhibition to ensure the views of Formby's population is heard.

Bill said: "It is vital that any development plans consider the people already living here as well as people who move in to the new homes. These are big plans for Formby and people in this town need to make sure they go along and have their say.

"At present the developers say the plans are in the very early stages and that no application has been submitted, but they clearly have Formby in their sights for a major housing development.

"Any development must make sure the roads, schools and doctors can all cope. And any concerns about drainage and sewers must be dealt with. "
