Sefton Central Labour MP Bill Esterson raised a cup to support Macmillan Cancer Support's World's Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday.
Bill attended the Aintree Village Parish Council-organised event at Harrow Drive Council Chamber.
After a full morning of coffee making, organisers announced that they had raised an impressive £351.32 for the charity.
Bill said: "I'd like to congratulate Aintree Village Parish Council, particularly council chairman Cllr Carole Mitchell and the team of coffee morning organisers, for a fantastic morning and raising an impressive amount of money for a very worthy cause.
"As well as being able to enjoy a coffee, visitors could also enjoy a cake which had been made and donated for the event.
"It showed just how a community can come together and make a difference.
"Cllr Mitchell and the rest of the organisers should be rightly proud of themselves for holding this event year in and year out and for also smashing last year's total raised by £90."
Bill said Macmillan Cancer Support deserves the support of everyone in the community.
Bill added: "Most of us are in some way touched by cancer, be that ourselves or through our loved ones. The support Macmillan gives is crucial to help people get through what can very often be a very bleak time.
"They deserve all the support we can give them and that is why the efforts of Cllr Mitchell and Aintree Village Parish Council as well as everyone throughout Sefton who held their own events, who donated or who attended deserve all of our hearteflt thanks.
"I look forward to attending again next year."
