Maghull's Labour MP Bill Esterson was thrilled to be able to support Zoë's Place charity cricket day at Maghull Cricket Club.
The annual Maghull Cricket Club Family Day event saw teams of all ages play cricket through the day while funds were raised by volunteers from the spectators and players.
Zoë’s Place Trust is a registered charity providing respite and end of life care to babies and infants aged from birth to five years suffering from life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. The Hospice is designed to be a `home away from home’ in which the babies feel comfortable and are able to get the most out of its very special facilities.
The club held an Under 9s cricket tournament in the morning, men's cricket matches in the afternoon and a first for 2014 a mums' cricket match. The day ended with an auction of signed sports memorabilia among the auction items together with a raffle, live music and disco to end the day.
Bill said: "I was thrilled to be able to support the work of Zoë's Place and was pleased to see so many people supporting the cricket day at Maghull.
"Everyone was clearly having fun while supporting the really important work that happens every day supporting young children and their families.
"I would like to pay tribute to the work that everyone at Zoë's Place does and also to Maghull Cricket Club for their support.
"The cricket club has been holding the charity day every year for the past six years and hopefully the event will continue to grow. I would like to give special mention to Gill for organising the event at the club."
