Maghull's Labour MP Bill Esterson will be able to test his fitness later this month when Maghull Baptist Church hosts its annual Community Sports & Fun Day.
The church will be staging the popular summer event on Saturday, June 28, from 12noon to 4pm.
There will be local sporting and dance groups taking part in mini-tournament and displays throughout the day which people can either watch and enjoy or even get involved in.
Visitors can also try their hand on other activities, including a climbing wall, mobile archery, a football cage, athletics training, football skills, tennis and golf.
There will also be a craft tent for children which includes face painting and glitter tattoos, bouncy castles, a bouncy assault course, BBQ, a live jazz band and even a tea and cake tent.
Maghull Baptist Church's Community Sports & Fun Day is open to all and entry is free. While some of the activities are free to try out, there will be a small nominal charge for other things like BBQ, climbing wall and refreshments.
Maghull Baptist Church's Di Ball said: "As a church we put this on for the community of Maghull, not for profit, just for fun. We first started it when London hosted the Olympics and thought it would be good to get local sporting groups involved to show what they do.
"We included other activities such as climbing wall, archery and football cage as fun things for everyone to have a go at. Over the last few years this event has grown and we are adding new things each year for people to have a go at .
"People love to come together to an event where they can bring the whole family and have fun. It's free to get into and try some of the activities while there will be a small charge for some of the others the family can enjoy the day without breaking the bank.
"We have something for everyone. You can either sit and enjoy a cuppa and cake listening to our live jazz band and watching the different displays, or you can take on your kids in our football cage or one of the many other activities. Either way, you'll be in for a great afternoon."
Bill Esterson said he was looking forward to attending the event.
Bill said: "Maghull Baptist Church's Community Sports & Fun Day is a great day for the whole family.
"It is a time for families to come together and challenge each other to sporting activities, or to sit back and enjoy the entertainment in our fantastic community.
"I will most certainly be popping along to show off my sporting skills, t try out some new activities and most certainly enjoy a cuppa and cake while listening to the jazz band.
"I hope to see you there."
Maghull Baptist Church will also be playing host to former Premiership footballer Linvoy Primus at 6.30pm on Sunday, June 29. Linvoy will be talking about his career in the world of sport. The house jazz band will also be performing and refreshments will be available.
