Labour announces development of Strategic Plan for Maghull Town

Caroline Esterson

Maghull Town Council's Labour leader Cllr Caroline Esterson has announced plans to introduce a long-term action plan for the town.

Cllr Esterson, said the lack of a strategic plan revealed the failings of the previous Lib Dem administration.

The Labour Group has been working to "put the council's workings in order" since sweeping to power last May.

Cllr Esterson said: "Since taking control of Maghull Town Council just last May, my Labour colleagues and I have been working hard to get things into working order.

"One of the main failings has been the distinct lack of a long term strategy for the council.

"It is common practice for town and parish councils to have a town or community plan to steer the direction of the council over a period of time.

"The lack of a town plan for Maghull makes me wonder what the previous administration were doing over the period of 25 years? A strategic plan is crucial to ensure the council is moving forward and working in the interests of Maghull and its residents."

Maghull Town Council Labour Group is now working on compiling a community plan for the town.

Cllr Esterson said: "My Labour colleagues and I are in the process of compiling the town plan.

"This will be the strategic document to act as a framework for all the ideas which we are generating. This document will help us prioritise the implementation of the ideas.

"We are holding a full consultation with Maghull residents over what they want to see featured in the strategic plan.

"If people have ideas they'd like to submit, please let me know by emailing me on

"The Labour Group is putting Maghull Town Council back on track after 25 years of Lib Dem mismanagement."
