Labour Action Team tackles sewers problem in Aintree Village

Aintree Labour Action Team has been has gotten to the bottom of a very smelly problem after being flooded with complaints about United Utilities.

Aintree residents complained Bill Esterson and Paula Murphyabout sewage problems in the Village.

Problems included blocked drains sewage smells and even flooding.

Molyneux Ward Labour Councillor Paula Murphy and MP Bill Esterson called on United Utilities to take action as soon as they found out about the issues.

Cllr Murphy said the water company has now dealt with the issues.

Cllr Murphy said: "Aintree Labour Action Team was contacted by residents in the area after a number of properties were affected by sewage.

"We contacted United Utilities and asked for a full investigation into why this happened, and for United Utilities to re-visit any properties still having problems.

"We understand from United Utilities that they have visited any residents who experienced blocked drains, sewage smell or flooding and have arranged for compensation to be paid to affected properties."

Bill and Cllr Murphy are now calling for a meting with United Utilities to discuss the problems in the area.

Bill said: "Molyneux Ward Labour Councillor Paula Murphy has been working hard to make sure this problem is resolved quickly and to residents’ satisfaction. 

"We have requested a meeting with United Utilities very soon to discuss the ongoing problem of the drains and sewers in the area.
