Formby MP Bill Esterson calls on community to share their views

Formby's Labour MP Bill Esterson is calling on people in Freshfield to let him know their views on plans to install a new mobile phone mast near to the train station.

Vodafone and Telefonica have submitted a planing application to install a phone mast on land at Freshfield Railway Station, off Victoria Road.

Bill has already received notification from anti-phone mast campaigner Eileen O'Connor regarding the proposal.

He is now asking people in Freshfield and the surrounding area to let him know their views. He will then present all of the comments to Sefton Council's planning department for consideration before a final decision is made.

Bill said it is vitally important that the local community have a say on any local planning issues.

Bill said: "I have worked with Eileen O'Connor in the past on issues in relation to phone masts and handsets and their potential impact on health. I have seen some very concerning evidence of potential danger, particularly to children.

"She raises a number of concerns in relation to these plans.

"I now want to hear the views of other people in this community.

"There can obviously be a lot of concern about plans to install phone masts in the heart of a community. I need to hear what residents in Freshfield think. So I am asking people here to write to me with their views so i can present them all to the planning department to allow them to fully understand the views of local people within the community."
