A Maghull businessman, a local mum and a retired deputy head teacher have been selected as Labour's candidates for May's local elections.
Lynn Gatherer has been chosen to stand in Sudell Ward; Steve Kermode has been chosen to stand in Park Ward; and Maurice Byrne has been chosen to stand in Molyneux Ward.
Mother of two, Lynn is leader of the Sudell Ward Labour Action Team and is already working on issues raised by residents in Maghull.
Lynn said: "I am absolutely delighted to have been chosen to stand as Labour's candidate for Sudell.
"I live in Maghull and I'm bringing up my family hre. I know only too well the issues and concerns the residents have here and together with our Sudell Ward Labour Councillor Patrick McKinley and the rest of the Labour Action Team, I am working hard on those issues.
"This is a very difficult time for many people in Maghull, particularly those who work in the public sector who are facing job cuts and pay freezes, as well as the rest of the community who are facing service cuts because of this Tory-Lib Dem government's slash and burn policies.
"I will continue to work hard to make life better for the people in this community."
Local businessman Steve Kermode is already well known as the leader of the Park Ward Labour Action Team and as Deputy Mayor of Maghull Town Council.
Steve said: "It is a privilege to be given the opportunity to stand for the Labour Party in Park Ward.
"I came to this area when I was just two. I have raised my two children here and set up my business here. I am a well known Labour Party campaigner and have been working on residents' issues when they've been brought to the attention of the Labour Action Team.
"My priority for Park Ward is to be a strong advocate for the people of Maghull, Lydiate, Sefton Village and Lunt. I feel that I have started this process by the many local campaigns I have led, but much more needs to be done to ensure that the people of Park Ward are getting the representation that they deserve."
Former school teacher Maurice Byrne is a prominent community campaigner and has tackled issues in Aintree, Maghull and Melling.
Maurice said: "I have lived in this area all my life. in Aintree and Maghull, and I have raised a family here. I have taught many people in this community, I'm regularly out knocking on people's doors listening to their concerns and I know well the issues that they want me as a Labour Party activist to tackle.
"This Tory-Lib Dem government is leading an attack on working people right here in East Sefton. They are attacking our jobs, our services and they are intent on destroying our community.
"I am honoured to be given the chance to stand for Labour in a community which I love. I will continue to work alongside our Labour councillors to fight for the interests of the people who live here."
Sefton Central Labour MP Bill Esterson said Lynn, Steve and Maurice were fantastic candidates for East Sefton.
Bill said: “We have three fantastic Labour Action Team leaders here in East Sefton and I am delighted that all three have been selected as Labour’s candidates for Park, Sudell and Molyneux wards for next May’s local elections.
“All three already work amazingly hard in their communities and they are a fantastic asset to their wards.”
