Bill Esterson MP opens school kitchen

Bill Esterson MP opened the new Ursuline kitchen after a long fought battle for the school regarding the regeneration. The MP opened the kitchen to the applause of the school’s staff and student body before visiting classrooms where pupils were being taught the benefits of healthy eating.

"I was delighted to be asked back to Ursuline to open their kitchen. The head teacher, Mark McQueen, has fought hard to make his school the best possible; his efforts have really inspired the teamwork of a lot of different people from a lot of different organisations. I'd personally like to thank Sefton Council who I contacted over this, who have been supportive despite severe government cuts."

Head teacher Mark McQueen “It was great to have Bill come along to open the kitchen. A while ago we asked Bill for his help, and he did. It kickstarted a huge team effort. Our governors, Sefton Council, our architects and builders team as well as Sefton Catering Services and our kitchen staff were all vital in making this kitchen a reality.

There is a saying – Together we are Stronger – and our new kitchen is proof of this. On behalf of the children and their parents I would like to thank everyone, because of the team efforts made we can look forward to an exciting future of delicious, healthy wholesome food.”
