Sefton Central Labour MP Bill Esterson is urging residents in Maghull to air their views on plans to site a fast food pizza shop near to their homes.
An application has been submitted for the food outlet on Liverpool Road North near to Gordon Avenue.
Bill Esterson said: "I would question the need for a new fast food outlet in this area and I would be interested to hear the views of the people living in the immediate vicinity around Liverpool Road North and Gordon Avenue.
"Are there already enough fast food outlets in this area?
"Parking around that parade of shops, and further down, is already particularly difficult. The area is largely residential and with a shortage of parking spaces outside the shop in question, there is a real danger that the car parking problem would be pushed onto already tight residential roads.
"I know that in the past the residents led a campaign to block plans to site a food outlet on that particular parade. The issues that existed then are still around today, but even worse with the increase of cars on our roads.
"My other concern is the Tory-Lib Dem relaxation of planning laws which could open the door to applications of this kind in areas, even where the community object. That is the danger here.
"But I do urge people to let me know their views and i will make sure that they are presented to Sefton Council ahead of the planning committee meeting."
