Aintree Labour Action gets to root of messy problem

Aintree Labour Action Team is getting to the root of a messy problem in the Village.

Residents have contacted the Aintree Labour Action Team to complain about a growing number of weeds in the gutters on Sandown Park Road.

After visiting the road, Labour Action Team's Maurice Byrne said there was clearly a need for the area to be weeded.

Maurice said: "We have had a number of people contact the Aintree Labour Action Team about the problem of weeds on Sandown Road.

"People have complained that the weeds are starting to grow quite high in the gutters which is obviously making the area look unsightly.

"So what we have done is request a visit from a Sefton Council weeding team to remove the offending weeds and spray the area."

Maurice said the Aintree Labour Action Team has also received complaints from residents that litter isn't being cleaned on the street.

Maurice said: "I have had calls from people suggesting that litter is being allowed to build up on the road for weeks and months on end.

"I know that the area is on the road sweeping rota, but I have asked for confirmation that the area is being visited and that the road is being swept.

"I know Sefton Council is currently having to face serious cost cutting because of the massive cuts imposed on the authority by the Tories and Liberal Democrats in government, but what we need to ensure that we are getting the service we currently pay for.

"The Aintree Labour Action Team and I will continue to monitor the area to ensure that the work is being done."
