Sefton Central Labour MP Bill Esterson backed a leading asthma campaigner's awareness and fundraising drive in Maghull this week.
The MP attended the Asthma UK event at Maghull Town Hall, which was organised by Asthma UK ambassador Julia Kerr.
Former Maghull High pupil, Julia is an ambassador for Asthma UK and she regularly visits schools and community groups to teach the public about how serious the condition can be.
Bill has worked with the 26 year old on a number of occasions over the past couple of years in an effort to raise awareness of the condition and the work of Asthma UK.
Last year, Julia travelled to Parliament to speak to MPs, including Bill, about asthma.
The Maghull Town Hall fundraiser included an array of home-made cakes as well as lots of prizes to win.
Speaking after the event, Julia said: "It was a fantastic event. I'd like to thank everyone who came along, including all my friends and family, and of course our MP Bill for his continuing support.
"We raised £155 on the day, but as I haven't limited the fundraising to that one event, there is still money coming in which I have yet to tally up.
"The fundraising efforts aren't just about raising money. They are about raising awareness of asthma and the excellent work that Asthma UK does.
"We managed to do that with the event this week and we will continue to work hard to raise the profile of Asthma UK and the charity's goals."
Bill said he was delighted to back Julia's ongoing campaign.
Bill said: "I was delighted to attend Julia's fundraiser for Asthma UK at Maghull Town Hall.
"It was good to see so many people go along and help Julia raise awareness and vital funds for Asthma UK to carry on doing the good work the charity does.
"There are millions of sufferers like Julia across the UK. But how many of those who are being treated are aware of the treatment they need and how many sufferers out there are not being treated?
"Asthma UK is there to make sure the information is available so the best treatment can be made available.
"I once again want to thank Julia and all her supporters for raising money and awareness for Asthma UK."
