Maghull Labour Action Team has organised a consultation meeting for members of the public to have their say on plans to build a major care village in the town.

The Labour Action Team has organised the meeting, which will be held on Thursday, August 18 at 7pm at Maghull Town Hall.

A developer wants to build the 'village' on the open greenspace on Damfield Lane.

Cllr Patrick McKinley has called the public meeting to ensure that all residents had the chance to view the plans and express their views on the proposals before the development goes before Sefton planning department.

Cllr McKinley, who is Labour Sudell Ward Councillor and Deputy Leader of Maghull Town Council, said he has spoken to lots of people in the community already about the plans.

He said: "This is a major proposal for Maghull and we want to make sure that everyone has the chance to have their say.

"We want to hear all the views, be they good or bad so that we can feed them back directly to the planning department.

"There were two evening last week when people had the chance to see the plans, but we want to give the whole community the opportunity to discuss the plans together.

"So we are hopeful of a good turn out."

Cllr McKinley said the Maghull Labour Action Team has been contacted by a large number of people with questions about the proposal.

Maghull Labour Action Team member Lynn Gatherer said: "The main questions which people have are about how these plans will impact the local community.

"How much of the land will be taken up by the development? How many residents will there be? How many resident staff will there be? How many jobs will be created for the people of Maghull? What provision for parking has been allocated? What infrastructural improvements have been built in to the plans to cater for the increased population?

"People are also asking about the size and scale of the development.

"These are all questions which Cllr McKinley has been asking on our behalf and he will be able to shed some light at the meeting."
