Blundellsands Ward's Cllr Veronica Bennet and Manor Ward's Cllr Steve McGinnity with Mayor and Mayoress of Sefton Cllrs Kevin and Linda Cluskey and Jospice fundraising manager Pat Murphy.

Two Crosby & Blundellsands Labour Councillors said they were delighted to attend Jospice's Golden Jubilee reception this week.

Blundellsands Ward's Cllr Veronica Bennett and manor Ward's Cllr Steve McGinnity joined Jospice vice president Cherie Blair, the charity's director of fundraising Pat Murphy and Mayor and Mayoress of Sefton Cllrs Kevin Cluskey and Linda Cluskey at the event on Tuesday.

The event was to mark 50 years of care Jospice has given to terminally ill people both here on Merseyside and in the many clinics and hospices throughout the world.

Cllr Bennett said Jospice was a fantastic local charity which has helped people in Crosby and around the world.

Cllr Bennett said: "I have supported Jospice since I was young. Throughout my time at Ursuline Primary School we took part in the Jospice Challenge to raise funds. It's a charity which people in Crosby and throughout Sefton want to support.

"Hundreds and thousands of families have been given support by Jospice at a time when they need it most.

"It is an organisation which I am very proud to support."

Cllr McGinnity said it was a privilege to meet many people at the Golden Jubilee reception who had received support from Jospice.

Cllr McGinnity said: "During the event I had the chance to speak to many people, lots from Sefton, who had been given support by Jospice and the excellent team of carers here.

"They are clearly all very grateful for the work that Jospice does and the high level of care and support the charity provides.

"Jospice is a charity which deserves our full support and I will personally do all I can to support the fantastic work they do."
